The Welland Canal: For something you don't get to see everyday, visit the Welland Canal. Every year about 40,000,000 tonnes of cargo pass through the canal on 3,000 ocean and Great Lakes vessels. Lock 8 in the Fountainview Park in Port Colborne provides an excellent view of ships passing through the canal at one of the world's longest locks. The Welland Canal closes in the winter from January – March.
